Sales of Firecrackers in Sivakasi Drop 20% Ahead of Deepavali
Firecracker sales in Sivakasi have decreased by 20% compared to last year as Deepavali approaches. With over 2,500 retail shops in the region, many are experiencing lower customer footfall.
Diwali Sales
As Deepavali approaches, firecracker sales in Sivakasi have seen a 20% decline compared to last year.
In Virudhunagar district, over 2,500 retail firecracker shops began sales following the Ayudha Pooja festival. However, customer foot traffic is significantly lower than in previous Deepavali seasons, leaving many counters in these shops empty.
Traders attribute the sales decline to a growing preference for online shopping and the festival's timing at the month's end. Additionally, some merchants voiced concerns about customers falling victim to fraudsters posing as legitimate firecracker sellers online.
In light of these challenges, dealers are urging the government to implement regulations on online firecracker sales to help boost their business.
